First single from Anne Garner's upcoming Dear Unknown, released on Slowcraft on 1st April 2022, paired here with a euphoric electronica remix from label curator and ambient producer James Murray.

Alma celebrates the artist’s late mother, whose passing prompted Anne to begin her songwriting career, urging us all to cherish each and every moment of life’s precious, fleeting gift.

Words from Anne:

This song is about my mum, wise, compassionate but with so little self confidence. I mourn her early death from cancer and I'm angry that she was diminished by a patriarchal religious environment that nurtured guilt, bred shame and thrived on the inequality of women.

I hope I can redress this injustice by facing my own fears, speaking out my own truth and setting free the trapped, frightened self that doesn't think she deserves to be heard.

The music I make is one of the ways I intend to do this.
