Hajú is an old Moravian word that loosely translates to “hush hush”.

Tomáš Šenkyřík returns to Slowcraft with a beautiful new work capturing both the spirit of the season and of his homeland.

In this poignant collection Šenkyřík oversees the subtle weaving together of acoustic elements, soft synthetic manoeuvres and evocative field recordings to spellbinding effect. Following his Slowcraft debut EP Fond in 2020 the Czech composer and field recordist has again opened ears and heart to his surroundings, inviting dialogue between understated electroacoustic arrangements, homely audio recordings and significant contributions from multi-instrumentalist Pavel Rajmic on strings and Marie Puttnerova on vocals. The latter's arrival on the final lullaby crowns a modern-day framing of Moravian folklore guided as much by ambient minimalism as the ghosts of Dvořák and Janáček, one in which the family hearth forever glows with an unmistakable warmth and generosity of spirit.
