Not Home

by Anne Garner

Not Home may seem an unusual choice of single from Anne Garner’s upcoming album Lost Play but there’s precious little that is conventional about this singer-songwriter. Fans of her strange, seductive melancholy will be beguiled once again by the song’s signature union of disembodied sadness and reassuring intimacy. Warm waves of electric guitar and synthesiser cradle glitchy, restless percussives, the soaring silvered pedal steel of Jack Hayter (Hefner, Dollboy) and a lyrical message both beautiful and hard to hear.

Iranian ambient producer Porya Hatami takes these elements and stretches them sideways into a reverberant, slow motion rework in which Anne’s spectral utterances are diffused into abstraction, culminating in a gorgeous, woozy mellotron refrain that take us gently by the hand over the horizon.

Not Home and Porya’s remix are available across all major platforms and in lossless 24bit audio exclusively from Slowcraft Records.

Track Name: Not Home
Looking out in the half light
Think you miss me
You'll be fine

Not home
So don't try to call
Don't come to see me
I'm not here anymore

Over time you'll forget me
You won't remember all we shared
You'll be flying in a new sky
Shining brightly
All on your own

Not home
So don't try to call
Don't come to see me
I'm not here anymore
